The picture features a quiet nook on the great Lake Baikal. This cozy little bay is much liked by the people who enjoy a good time in the outdoors: swimming, sunbathing, fishing, and a lot of other activities are a source of joy and genuine pleasure. This bay is unique in that it makes one feel as if one were on the exotic shore of a warm sea. The Sandy Bay is one of those spots in the faraway East Siberia that remind you of Eden. The picture is a reflection of my impressions of the place which I visit often and a glimpse of whose beauty I have tried to share – an enterprise, it must be understood, extremely difficult and well nigh impossible.
