Embroidery from photos

All my embroidered paintings are created from almost any photo, postcard or other printed materials. The better the photo, the more impressive the finished embroidery work will appear. I put the contour of the future embroidered picture on one color fabric of the required size. And using those shapes I start creating the picture, painting fabric with thin natural silk or cotton thread, holding a photograph or other printed item in front of me. Fabric is tucked into an embroidery hoop step by step, since the size of the hoop is much smaller than created pictures. With a sewing machine I put multiple layers of thread on fabric, first 4-5 layers, this is only a "priming" in painting, pre-marking of the objects. Finally I apply from 11 to 26 layers of thread on the created work. The number of threads of different colors used in one picture can vary from 100 to 700.

Work on embroidery projects takes me a lot of time: from 1 month up to a year and depends on the size and complexity of the image. The finished embroidery is very dense, multilayered. Due to the high density of the embroidery that I use in my technique, smooth and shiny threads that reflect light, the embroidered pattern looks like an oil painting even under close examination. Very often the audience wants to touch the embroidered work to be convinced that the work is done with thread not in oil. Embroidered paintings are all framed without glass.

All my embroidered paintings reflect the moments of my life that I cherish most, something I was delighted with, the things that I like most of all. So my embroidered pictures are priceless to me and not for sale. My unique proposal is that I suggest to embroider any other painting using any of your images: photos of people, pictures of your holiday, a view of your favorite country house, garden, or make a copy of my embroidered pictures displayed on my page. Images can be sent via email or by post. The image must be of high quality whether it is sent by email or printed out on A4 size paper.

The price for my embroidered paintings is negotiable. Fair price for the embroidered picture is from 3 to 8 dollars per 1 cm2 of the performed work, depending on the complexity of the image.
